San Francisco

With the conference over, we headed towards the start of our holiday - San Francisco. We were flying with Virgin America as it was the cheapest flight we could get but it turned out to one of the best flights I have taken. It's true Branson style, it was on the cutting edge. We boarded a plane that resembled more of a nightclub with neon lights lighting the sides.

Even the safety demonstration got our attention with pretty cool cartoons.

We got in late so slept till about 10. With a pretty good night's sleep we started out mammoth trek around San Fran following a guide we found in a book in our hotel room.

We started at the farmers market with amazing local produce from the region. It is this that is apparently the reason why San Fran is regarded as a great eating destination. We started cheap sharing a sausage and egg burger from this cute little stall and ended expensive as you will see later on.

Apparently Krishni's mum will like this photo as she is a bit of a foodie and loves farmer's markets.

We headed north to Fishermans wharf. We came across a guy playing a Sax which is the same guy that I saw when I went to San Fran 10 years ago but then it was winter and I was the only one in the mall listening to him. I had bought his cd. It closed a loop. I was glad he was still there playing his tunes.

Even at the start of the walk, Krishni was having to lean on a railing to keep herself

We walked, walked and walked. We had lunch at a place called Judy's cafe and the food was delicious. After having a look at a few shops we decided to tackle the hill. Yes the hills are big here.

This is the top of one of the streets we climbed on our walking tour of the bay.

After we got back to our hotel we collapsed for about an hour or two suffering from a bit of dehydration. After a while when we were about to just stay in because we were buggered, I once again sort advice from the book in the room on things to do in San Fran. One picture and a little voice from somewhere else in the room saying we are only here once convinced me we should head somewhere nice for dinner. I called at 7:30pm to see if they still had a table. They did. I booked for 8:30pm. It was only a 10min walk from our hotel. It was called the Carnelion Room which was on the top floor of the bank of America. The tallest building around. Well at least from what I could see. I didn't take my Camera but the view was spectular, amazing. The sun was setting over the golden gate bridge and the smog just highlighted it. It hung around for almost 1/2 hour. I didn't have my camera so had to do with my phone.

The food was great as was the bill but it was worth it. The memory will stick. I then couldn't sleep because I was too full, you can't have it all. Here is another couple of pictures of the building.

The bank of America building is on the right with the spiky one being the TransAmerica building.

The next day we just did a little shopping and went for a tram ride. The power was lost or something happened halfway through an our little tram ride and it turned into a little adventure with one crazy tram conductor and a big ass truck. Here's a short video.
